Tipton Advice Day Targets Young People

Young people can get advice on careers and personal safety and information about a wide range of services during a fun event at Victoria Park, Tipton, on Saturday 14 October.

The Safer 6 campaign event runs from 12-3pm at the park in Victoria Road.

Attractions include the Youth Bus, a skate competition and play activities. The Albion Foundation, Sandwell College, Sandwell Libraries and Think Local will all be attending to give advice and information.

Councillor Ann Jarvis, town lead, said: “We’ve got lots of great activities lined up and plenty of sound advice and tips for young people about their personal safety and overall well-being. In addition anyone who wants to find out more about careers and training can talk to specialist advisers who are also going to be there.”

Volunteers from Sandwell Crime Prevention Panel will be handing out security freebies. There will also be a virtual reality crash demonstration, the cannabis information trailer and drink driving awareness kit, all aimed at raising awareness and preventing harm.

The Safer 6 campaign is running across Sandwell’s six towns for six weeks as the nights draw in, with partner organisations including the council, fire service and police targeting their efforts and providing extra reassurance.
