Back To School!

Although we’re now back to school, there is still lots to look forward to!

SHAPE Youth Forum

We are so happy to announce that SHAPE Youth Forum are now having face – to – face meetings!

We are also now looking to welcome new members in to our forum.

If you have a keen interest in politics and would like to have your voice heard locally and nationally, then joining SHAPE Youth Forum is a great opportunity for you to represent your community.

SHAPE Forum:

  • Acts as an open forum for young people to come together to share experiences, views and discuss issues relevant to them
  • Acts as a consultation, advice and discussion body for the SHAPE Programme where organisations and institutions can come and listen to young people to change services to suit their needs
  • A place where young people start to learn to debate
  • Organises a wide range of activities, programmes and events throughout the year, including the annual SHAPE Summer Fest and SHAPE Your Talent.
  • Two Youth Police Crime Commissioners are elected in Sandwell will be part of the forum and will join the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner’s Youth Commission to look at community safety issues including Child Sexual Exploitation (CSE), radicalisation and prevent.
  • Two Members of Youth Parliament and Two Deputy Members of Youth Parliament will be elected and become part of forum and will join British Youth Council representing Sandwell

SHAPE Summer Fest Re-imagined

SHAPE Summer Fest Reimagined took place on Saturday 10 July  and this year it was virtual!

You can now select different viewing channels from sports, arts and crafts, nature, health, performing arts, cooking, mental health and wellbeing and careers.

Activities range from all ages and include football training, anxiety workshops, illustration with rootz 0121 and much more. There is also a careers showcase in the afternoon for 16 – 25 year olds.

Youth Services re-opened

Sandwell Youth Service will also be re-opening some of its youth clubs from this week at the following locations:

Tanhouse Youth Club (Re-opening 6th July)

Tanhouse Community Centre, Hamstead Road, Great Barr, B43 5EL

Thursday 6pm – 8pm

Lodge Road Youth Club (Re-opening 8th July)

Lodge Road Community Centre, Lodge Road, West Bromwich, B70 8PJ

Thursday 6pm – 8pm

Windmill Youth Club (Re-opening 13th July)

Windmill Community Centre, Messenger Road, Smethwick, B66 3DX

Tuesday 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Thursday 6:30pm – 8:30pm

Young people will need to pre-book their place, as we will only be able to accept limited numbers due to social distancing and capacity within the clubs.  Please contact youngpeople_services@sandwell.gov.uk to book your place and make sure you give your name and the club you wish to attend.

In addition, detached youth teams will continue to operate at key locations throughout the summer.  Details of where and when the teams will be out each week can be found at https://www.justyouth.org.uk/events/

Anti – Bullying Roadshow

We are excited to announce that we are also going to be carrying out our Anti-Bullying Roadshow again this year!

More information will be released soon, ahead of the Roadshow in November.
