Prevent is the safeguarding part of the National Counter Terrorism Strategy and aims to stop people being drawn into or supporting terrorism.
The strategy focuses on three key areas, which are to:
- tackle the causes of radicalisation and respond to the ideological challenge of terrorism
- safeguard and support those most at risk of radicalisation through early intervention, identifying them and offering support
- enable those who have already engaged in terrorism to disengage and rehabilitate
PREVENT are also running a workshop sessions about Identity & Tolerance workshop for those aged 11+
A highly interactive session which looks at stereotypes and misconceptions of groups of people from different backgrounds. Participant’s own identities are explored – discussion focuses on how similar we are regardless of our backgrounds and how it feels when our identities are affected due to stereotypes/misconceptions.
Young people are free to move around during the activities and will complete their very own ‘identity cap’ exercise. The session includes a story which will encourage young people to use their imaginations and go on a journey to understand identity deeper.
