The Youth Service aims to provides opportunities for personal learning and social development to all young people in Sandwell, aged between 11-19 years (up to 25 years with additional needs) by working in partnership with local people and partner agencies.
We are looking for volunteers to work alongside our youth teams across the six towns of Sandwell. This is a great way for you to gain experience of working with young people, whilst developing your existing skills and developing new transferrable skills.
Here are some of the volunteer opportunities on offer:
- Youth Clubs – Helping and supporting activities and issue-based work in our centres across the six towns
- Detached Work – Delivering street based work with the detached team
- Coneygre Arts Centre – Working with young people at Sandwell’s Performing Arts centre including theatre/ drama, musical experiences, rehearsal rooms, recording studio, sound/lighting tech, showcases/ events and festivals
- Malthouse Outdoor Activity Centre – Working with young people at Sandwell’s Outdoor Activity Centre including Canoeing, Climbing, Abseiling, Archery, Mountain Biking, Team Games, Canal Discovery and more
- Enhanced Youth Support – Work with the Enhanced Youth Service Team to deliver targeted youth work to young people outside of the core offer, including: a young women’s group, a SEND youth club, LGBTQ+ groups, NEET young people, one to one sessions support in schools and managing Safer 6 projects and HAF (Holiday Activities and Food Programme)
- Residentials and Offsite Visits – Experiences, planning and action plans
- Driving – Mini Buses and Mobile Support Buses
We also offer training opportunities* as part of the volunteering offer:
- Working with dedicated staff
- Safeguarding, First Aid training and Health and Food Hygiene training
- Issue-based training
- Leadership skills
- Level 2 and Level 3 Youth Working training
