SHAPE Your Talent 2022

SHAPE Your Talent 2022 is a talent competition for young people aged 8-19 year olds (up to 25 for young people with additional needs) who live, work or are educated in Sandwell.

We are currently working towards Stage 3 – the Public Online Voting.

Voting will open at 9:30am on Friday 20th May 2022, and you can vote for your favourite act here!

the stages of the competition

  • Stage 1 – Virtual Auditions – You will be notified of the virtual audition results w/c Monday 21st March
  • Stage 2 – Live Auditions – Successful applicants will be invited to one of the live auditions, in front of a judging panel. These auditions will take place on the following dates: Friday 1 April 2022, Friday 8 April 2022 and Saturday 9 April 2022
  • Stage 3 – Public Online Voting – Successful acts from the live auditions will be filmed at Coneygre Arts Centre, Tipton on Wednesday 27th April 2022. These videos will be posted on the SHAPE Events YouTube channel for the public to view and vote. The 1st and 2nd acts from each age category who have the most votes will automatically go through to the final. The 3rd and 4th acts will be chosen by an independent judging panel.
  • Stage 4 – The Live Final – Finalists will perform at SHAPE Summer Fest on Friday 1st July 2022, at Sandwell College, with a stage and a full sound system etc. The winner of each age category will receive a £500 cheque.

terms & conditions

  • All acts must be safe and appropriate for family viewing. No profanity, sexual behaviour, nudity, violence, derogatory terms or offensive language.
  • The closing date for online application forms to be submitted is 4 April 2022.
  • All performers must live, work or study for a minimum of 12 hours per week in Sandwell and are aged 8 – 19 (up to 25 for children with disabilities). Please note: We will accept applications from any young person or group who regularly partake (at least twice a month in the last 12 months) in any extra-curricular activities in Sandwell.
  • Proof of age and connection with Sandwell will be checked. The following documents will be accepted as evidence – Proof of age: 16 and over (Birth Certificate, ID, Passport, any other documents with official birth date). Proof of residency, education or work in Sandwell: Letter from school including school letterhead, council tax bill, bank statement, phone bill, payslip.
  • Any performer under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the audition day.
  • If your act has appeared in a SHAPE Your Talent final on two occasions, you are not permitted to participate again
  • If you are a winner of a previous SHAPE Your Talent as an individual or as part of a group, you cannot enter the competition again (in any category).
  • You can only enter the competition once as one act (individual or a group) i.e. if you enter as a solo singer, you cannot also enter separately as a singer in a band.
  • If you are a solo performer and would like someone older to provide backing music via an instrument, this is permitted however only you as a performer will be judged.
  • Our independent judging panels will provide honest feedback and comments about all performances from the live audition stages of the competition onwards.
  • It is expected that the event will attract media and/or public interest, which may involve photography and video. By entering the contest, you are consenting to such publicity.
  • The council partners will be filming/taking photographs of acts to be used in publicity and social media (including YouTube), by entering the contest you are consenting to such publicity.
  • All personal details and/or information must be truthful, accurate and in no way misleading.
  • You can be disqualified if: false information is submitted, crude or inappropriate talent, act or behaviour. Sandwell Council’s decision is final.
  • The company agrees to comply and have adequate measures in place to ensure that its staff comply at all times with the provisions and obligations contained in (as amended from time to time) the Data Protection Act 1998 and shall not share any personal information with third parties.
