Sandwell is borough filled with youthful potential and so much promise, but are we equipped with resources we need to thrive? I’m Ayyatulahi, and I’m running for your next UKYP representative. Is there a genuine value placed on our youth? Have you ever wondered why there isn’t a single Grammar School or University here? While walking along dark streets filled with litter or near dangerous parks at night, how safe are we? Our repeated requests for change, driven by limited employment opportunities and an alarming surge in youth violence have fallen on deaf ears. As your elected Youth Crime Commissioner and chair of SHAPE Youth Forum, I see a Sandwell where every young voice is heard, where we all feel safe and welcome. My aim is to voice your concerns and seek solutions that reduce crime, enhance education, offer more efficient mental health support and uplift our community.
Hi, I’m Abhijay, 11 years old, Year 7. My focus includes promoting mental health awareness and fostering environmental consciousness in schools. Locally, I aspire to encourage open conversations about teen issues. Regionally, I aim to advocate for sustainable practices, and nationally, I am dedicated to supporting a more inclusive opportunity system. I believe in echoing young voices, championing mental well-being, and contributing to positive changes for our country’s flaws. Let’s build a stronger, healthier, and more inclusive community, ensuring every young person’s voice is heard, valued, and empowered for a brighter future. I cherish this opportunity to represent our youth.
I think I would be a good Member of Youth Parliament for our future generation of Sandwell, by developing our young society and being the voice for the voiceless and letting the young community of Sandwell be heard. The first thing I would promote about my campaign is women’s misogyny and femicide, this is becoming an issue in our young man community where young men would often promote ways to make a woman walking down the road feel uncomfortable by being cat called or harassed; in a form where they feel isolated to a point it takes a lead on their mental health This leads to the upbringing of young females in our society being influenced on how they should act, talk and breathe. The goal of my campaign is to stop all this from happening and letting the women’s society of Sandwell free safe walking on the streets and listen to their voice when no one else will.
Hello everyone! This is Briony Jones, and I am one of the candidates for the UKYP elections. I believe that I would make a great candidate, as not only am I empathetic and kind, but I am also a great leader. I also have a passion for making things right, and I wish to be able to tackle some of the main problems facing our community. One of the biggest problems that young people face is mental health. While it is a widely talked-about topic, not much is put in place to help those in need, and I wish to see this addressed on a national level.
In our community there are many problems that young people face. I want to take positive actions in our community that allows me to have a voice that airs the opinions and ideas of the young people. I hate seeing people treated wrongly or differently because they have unique or different protected characteristics. My topic is equality and my name is Dileena Kaur, everyone deserves to be treated the same, with the same dignity and respect. We all have special talents and abilities, and with the right working or learning environment it would be more beneficial. Therefore, I believe I would make a great fit.
Being in year 13, I can definitely say I have had my share of experiences from high school. From moments of success to periods of pressure from exams, I can relate to your feelings of worry and stress and it is precisely why the education system must change. I will campaign to get rid of sets within school and cut unnecessary assessments, this will make more time for your own self-development and leisure. Alongside this I will bring a focus to the dismissed area of young women’s medical health and research. One major issue that distresses our generation is online sexual harassment, we must continue to protect the young people of today and tomorrow, this starts with us.
Hello everyone, I’m Palak. In my opportunity to represent you in Youth Parliament, my priorities include; crime, attitudes toward education, and fighting against sexual harassment young girls such as myself face on a daily basis. Over 97% of girls face this assault. This serious issue causes detrimental effects on our society in ways not even imaginable, and it needs to be addressed as many times as it takes to be successful. I want to show people that we can build a better society. You should vote for me because I believe I can bring necessary change to our community and can fight for the better by speaking the truth. I will never fail to voice my opinion along with YOURS. Thank you.
