Come along to join Sandwell Adult and Family Learning (SAFL) team to celebrate this year’s Family Learning Festival.
Family learning taster sessions take place at Central Sixth in West Bromwich on Saturday 14 October 11am until 1pm, Greets Green Children’s Centre in West Bromwich on Saturday 21 October at 11am until 1pm, Central Library in West Bromwich on Tuesday 24 October at 10am until 1pm and at Oldbury Library on Wednesday 25 October at 10am until 1pm.
Families will be given the opportunity to try a range of science experiments including designing and making rockets, treasure boxes and pencil cases. Family members can also decorate T-shirts, mugs and biscuits which they can take home with them.
To support us at Central Sixth the Fab Lab will also be opening for the families to discover and try all the modern digital machines you can use to make something amazing.
All of the activities are free of charge to celebrate this national festival designed to inspire a love of learning in families.
Adults will also be encouraged to find out more and sign up to the courses SAFL has on offer.
Councillor Simon Hackett, cabinet member for children’s services said: “I encourage families to come along and see the great courses we have on offer.
“Children can benefit from learning alongside their parents or carers and we hope this leads to them doing better at school. It can also lead the older family members to look at what other courses we have on offer such as qualifications in maths and English.
The festival is co-ordinated by the Campaign for Learning, the national charity that aims to build a culture of learning everywhere.
