Anti-Bullying Week will take place from Monday 11th November – Friday 15th November 2024. The theme for this year is ‘Choose Respect’.
During Anti-Bullying Week, Sandwell Council’s SHAPE Team deliver an Anti-Bullying Roadshow, in partnership with West Midlands Police.
We will travel to various Primary and Secondary Schools in Sandwell including:
Primary Schools:
- Hargate Primary School
- Highfields Primary School
- Joseph Turner Primary School
- George Betts Primary School
- Christchurch Primary School
- Victoria Park Academy
- Crocketts Community Primary School
Secondary Schools:
- West Bromwich Collegiate Academy
- Pheonix Collegiate Academy
- Perryfields Academy
- Wood Green Academy (Sessions to take place in the new year)
The theme of this year’s roadshow is ‘Choose Respect’, which was decided following the Anti-Bullying Alliance’s consultation with teachers and pupils concluded concluding that they wanted a theme that empowered them to do something positive and counter the harm and hurt that bullying causes.
The workshops will look at a variety of different topics including:
- What does respect mean to me?
- What does respect look like?
- What does respect sound like?
- Stereotypes & Biases
- Appearance & Body Shaming
- Racism
- Ageism
- Real life issues in the Sandwell community and wider
- Online & Gaming
- Cyberbullying
- Anonymous reporting of crime on Fearless
- Respect ‘pledge’
As well as Sandwell children and young people signing up to a pledge to ‘Choose Respect’, the SHAPE Team will also be making a pledge to continue to educate children and young people of the importance of ‘Choosing Respect’ regardless of the situation.
