Sandwell Arts Festival 2012 6th-18th August 2012 - Your Chance To Take Part
11th June 2012
Sandwell Arts Festival returns this summer with an exciting new development and a new slot in the calendar. The streets of Sandwell will come alive with walkabout performance, music and circus as well as a full programme of community based arts events and activities. It will celebrate our community and create a vibrant programme for everyone to enjoy, showcasing some of Sandwell’s most creative people and organisations, with spoken word, dance, exhibitions, theatre and music.
The highlight of this year’s festival will be a spectacular community procession through West Bromwich on Saturday August 18th, telling the tale of the Sandwell Giant. Flags, banners and giant structures will be made in participatory workshops and carried along the procession route. Knitters across the borough are being mobilised to create a multi coloured outfit for the giant.
As well as coming to see some of the exciting range of events on offer, there are lots of ways that you can take part:
Promote your event
If you’re already running an event or activity between 6th and 18th August, let us know and we’ll put it in the festival programme to help you publicise it.
Publicise your group
Promote your regular group or activity in the festival programme and recruit new members.
Showcase your work
If your group has an idea for an event for the festival but need a venue, get in touch.
Take part in a workshop
Participatory workshops will take place across Sandwell in the run up to the procession.
Knit squares to dress the Sandwell Giant
Use up your spare bits of wool to knit squares to help create a cloak fit for a giant.
We are also looking for volunteers to help out during the outdoor performances.
