THE ENHANCED YOUTH SUPPORT (EYS) TEAM WORKS WITH YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH A TARGETED YOUTH WORK APPROACH THAT SUPPORTS THEM TO DEAL WITH THEIR INDIVIDUAL ISSUES THROUGH BOTH ONE TO ONE AND GROUP INTERVENTIONS.

EYS works with  young people outside of the core youth clubs and detached teams through a number of targeted youth work sessions. Current EYS sessions available are –

Young Women’s Group

This work takes a group work approach with young women, emphasis is on female concerns and raising awareness around young women’s issues, whilst addressing individual and group concerns. Young women come together to plan and participate in a number of activities and insightful workshops that support their development into adulthood. The young women are encouraged to celebrate their individuality and strengths and are supported to identify their potential and develop a plan to address barriers, helping them on their journey to get to where they want to be in life.  It’s a great support group for females and we have a number of peer volunteers who can support newcomers to the group.

Young Men’s Group

This work takes a group work approach with young men, emphasis is on male concerns and raising awareness around young men’s issues.  Young men are encouraged through a variety of safe but challenging activities and workshops to celebrate their individuality, identify their strengths, developing an action plan to help them to identify where they would like support to reach their full potential as a young man. Young men in this group are involved in planning their own learning and development and are encouraged to support each other as peers.

The Meadows Youth Club

The Meadows Youth Club runs from the Meadows School in Oldbury and is for young people aged between 11 and 25 years of age with learning difficulties or disabilities. The club runs a variety of activities planned with young people to develop life skills and independent living. Sessions include cooking, health and wellbeing, sport and fitness, etc. This is a very welcoming club with a very skilled and friendly staff team, due to the nature of this club an assessment is required to make sure our club can meet the needs of the young person.

One to One sessions

EYS workers understand that young people referred to our service sometimes need a helping hand to get involved in positive activities. Our youth team are available to work with young people on a one to one basis for a number of weeks to provide individual support to a young person. Sessions could include working on self esteem, looking at family or school life and developing action plans using the outcome star. EYS workers can support young people so they become more confident and are able to move into universal services. Sessions can take place in school at home or other agreed location.

We also offer one to one sessions using our music recording studio facility at Coneygre Arts Centre in Tipton. Monday and Wednesday evenings are 50p a session but one to one sessions are available for a small fee and include full use of the recording studio and a technician for 2 hours. Contact Sarah Clews on 0121 569 8430 for further information.

Support in School

EYS workers can work with small groups in School covering a range of topics depending on the needs of the young people. We have worked with a number of year groups delivering informal education around staying safe, transition to high school, building confidence and self esteem, relationships, etc. There is a small charge for schools as we would offer a bespoke programme designed to support any issues that would be identified at a planning meetings with your school prior to any work taking place.

Please call Tariq Karim or Sarah Clews to discuss your requirements.
